Frequently Asked Questions:

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are available in person or remotely via Microsoft Teams, depending on what best suits your needs and circumstances.

How often do sessions take place?

Sessions are typically held once a week at a regular time that we agree upon together. This consistency helps build a sense of continuity and safety within the therapeutic process. There is always some flexibility to accommodate changes when needed.

Are sessions confidential?

Everything discussed in therapy is treated with the utmost confidentiality. However, there are rare circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be broken — for example, if there is clear evidence that you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. In such cases, I will always aim to discuss this with you before taking any necessary action.

What types of issues do you work with?

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including but not limited to:
Depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, panic attacks, grief and loss, life transitions, family dynamics, perfectionism, emotional regulation, OCD, communication challenges, and low motivation.

If you are unsure whether therapy would be suitable for your particular situation, please feel free to get in touch to discuss this further.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to therapy. We will talk about what you would like to work on, what you hope to gain, and address any questions or concerns you may have. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. The aim is to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and at your pace.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by emailing me at hello@drmariamartinez.com or by filling out the Contact form on this website. I aim to respond within 24 hours.

Do you accept private health insurance?

Yes. I am a recognised provider for AXA, WPA, Cigna, Aviva, Allianz Partners, and Vitality Health Insurance.

Important note

Please note that this is not a crisis service.
If you are in crisis or feel at risk of harming yourself or someone else, please seek immediate support by contacting your GP’s out-of-hours service or attending your nearest A&E department.
